How this works
Every word is checked entirely in your browser — nothing is sent to a server. By default it matches against a 227,618-word English dictionary (Webster's Second International, public domain). A word matches if it can be spelled using only the letters you entered, each used at most as many times as it appears in your input (so "scramble" won't match a word needing three A's). Results are sorted longest first.
In Scrabble game mode, French, German, Italian, and Spanish each search their own dictionary too, generated from open spell-check dictionaries and trimmed to 7 letters or fewer (the rack cap, so nothing longer could ever be played anyway). Licenses: French (MPL-2.0), German (GPL-2.0/3.0), Italian (GPL-3.0), Spanish (GPL/LGPL/MPL). Accented letters match plain tiles the same way real Scrabble tiles do (an E tile can spell é, è, ê, or ë) — this tool simplifies a couple of languages' stricter tile rules (German Ä/Ö/Ü and Spanish Ñ are normally distinct tiles) for casual play. These are spell-check-derived word lists, not official tournament Scrabble dictionaries, so they're not 100% tournament-accurate.

Entering the 8 letters in "scramble" (free play, any length) returns 265 valid words, broken down by length:

In Scrabble scoring, two of those 6-letter words tie for the best score without hitting a bonus square: MARBLE (M3+A1+R1+B3+L1+E1) and SCREAM (S1+C3+R1+E1+A1+M3) both score exactly 10 points on English tile values.
Tips for solving anagrams faster
Set a minimum word length before scanning results — jumping straight to "6+ letters" filters out the dozens of short, low-value words and surfaces the plays actually worth considering in a game. The "contains" filter is useful when you're building off a letter already on the board: type the letters you need to connect through and every result will include that sequence. In Scrabble/WWF mode, sort by score rather than length — a shorter word can outscore a longer one once tile values are counted.
Frequently asked questions
Why doesn't this support blank tiles?
A blank tile can stand in for any letter, which turns the search from "match a fixed set of letters" into "try every possible letter substitution" — a much larger search. It's on the list for a future update; for now, try running the search once per letter you'd substitute the blank for.
Why didn't a word I know is valid show up?
Either it needs a letter (or more copies of a letter) you didn't enter, or it's not in this word list. Webster's Second International is large but not exhaustive — a handful of modern words, proper nouns, and some regional spellings won't be in it, and the non-English dictionaries are spell-check word lists rather than official tournament Scrabble dictionaries.
Is this legal to use for competitive Scrabble or Words With Friends?
Check your specific game or tournament's rules — most casual and online play doesn't restrict word-finding tools, but sanctioned tournament play generally prohibits any outside aid during a game. Use your judgment for the setting you're in.
Why does letter repetition matter?
Each letter can only be used as many times as it appears in your input — entering "scramble" (one A) won't match a word needing two A's, because you'd only have one A tile available. This mirrors how an actual letter rack or set of tiles works.
